Social Insecurity and the Coming Intergenerational Battle Over ...

Well, there you have it - again. Fed chief Bernanke admitted in Congressional testimony - again - that "deficits do matter" and that changes to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid will have to be made or dire economic circumstances will result. (See transcript of AP wire story dated 01/18/2007 below.)

In my November 2006 essay Faith Based Money (www.provisionaltruth.org/Essays/2006Q4/faithbasedmoney.htm) , I wrote, "...Bernanke warned Congress in July 2006, 'Deficits matter because they represent additions to debt that our children and grandchildren will either have to pay through higher taxes or reduced services.' Bernanke's key word is pay, not borrow more, and the result of higher taxes and reduced government spending generally would be a shrinking economy, which, ultimately translates to a lower standard of living."

The "transfer programs" as Bernanke refers to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid actuarily are forecast to bankrupt the nation with nearly $45 Trillion of unfunded liabilities in the next three decades as 80 million or so Baby Boomers begin drawing on the wealth transfer tap.

Free Real Estate Investment Training Program Available Online

(OPENPRESS) Mar. 22, 2007 -- Glendale, AZ -- Dr. Lloyd Walters was the first in the family to invest in real estate when he bought a fixer-upper back in 1937, and now the secrets of three generations of investors are available to everyone. His grandson, Mark Walters, has created a web site where he offers a free video training course on real estate investment. The family has never stopped investing, and over the years they have uncovered many secrets that others have wanted to learn. The best real estate investors start with little or no cash. They have to make good deals to survive, and that probably should be everyone's attitude. Many of the investing techniques I teach require little or no cash, and you don't have to qualify for a loan, explained Walters. The real estate investing videos are offered free online at http://www.CashFlowInstitute.com The video training course is unique because it contains the detailed insider information found in other courses, but this one is free.

Takeover fever remains high as Cemex ups the ante in its bid for ...

TAKEOVER activity fuelled the sharemarket's rise to a new high yesterday, as Cemex announced a sweetened, recommended $A18.7 billion offer for Rinker, Coles said the Kohlberg Kravis Roberts consortium was signing up to battle the Wesfarmers-Macquarie syndicate for the right to mount a $20 billion takeover of the retail group, and Airline Partners Australia mulled revamping its $11 billion Qantas offer.

The deals are part of a wave of takeover activity that constitutes one of the great unknowables of the sharemarket boom. Bids of unprecedented magnitude are converting quality shares into cash, and most of it is jostling with superannuation money and cash freed up by share buybacks and dividends to find a new home in an equity pool that is becoming shallower by the day.

Just how important the deal flow is to the share-price boom will only become apparent when the deals dry up.
