"To all you pet owners out there who have fed your dog or cat anything with wheat gluten, better get your pet to the vet for blood tests. I have three dogs. One of my dogs showed up with the poison. She has been in treatment for two weeks. We got it in time, before our beloved dog died. They are your best friend. What's next?" - Smithsburg "I'm calling in regards to these loud mufflers that these teenagers and these 20-somethings are putting on their cars and stuff. What about the city noise ordinance? What does that include? Between them and motorcycles and stuff, that drives me crazier than any thumping music could ever do. That is just the most annoying sound to be beside one of them and that muffler's just like they're in the same gear the whole time.
Disaster Meeting
Today Senator Kent Conrad is meeting with farmers and ranchers from the area to discuss his disaster aid bill that passed the house and senate. The details of the bill call for about four-point-two billion dollars in disaster relief. About two hundred million dollars of this will be coming to North Dakota. Senator Conrad says one compromise made in the bill is that farmers and ranchers will have to choose to take relief for either 2005 or 2006.(Sen. Kent Conrad/ D-ND)"It's gonna make a big difference. This is not a Cadillac plan it's more of a chevrolet plan but it's going to make a meaningful difference to an awful lot of people in North Dakota." This news comes at the right time for many of these farmers and ranchers. This is when they are beginning to prepare for the upcoming growing season.

The Financials Pit Review For the week of April 9th, 2007 By PitGuru Larry Levin Recap - Last week we saw a decent amount of buying in the stock indices on a holiday shortened week. Each day (Monday thru Thursday) saw the S&P 500 finish higher but, as expected, the move higher was on fairly low volume due to the holiday type volume. Nevertheless, the market still found a reason to go higher with the very strange situation of having the Employment Report released while the market was closed.
Nissan boosts engine production, investment at Japanese plant
TOKYO -- Nissan is boosting engine production at one of its plants in Japan, earmarking an additional $53.8 million in investment by the end of next year, Japan's third biggest automaker said Tuesday. Nissan Motor Co. has been investing aggressively in the engine plant in Yokohama. It invested 11 billion yen ($92.4 million) in that plant for the fiscal year that ended in March, and was already investing another 15.7 billion yen ($131.9 million) for this fiscal year through March 2008, said spokeswoman Yuko Matsuda. The latest investment, which will span the 2008 calendar year, will boost annual production at the plant by 80,000 by the end of next year to 760,000 engines. That's up 12 percent from Nissan's plan for fiscal 2007 for annual production of 680,000 engines at the plant.
